This pillow is made from a kantha saree.
Sarees with kantha embroidery are typically made of pure silk, tussar silk or cotton in India. The embroidery is done by the rural craftswomen, with the art being passed down through the generations over several centuries. Each saree takes weeks or sometimes even months to prepare, depending on the intricacy of the embroidered patterns.
Steel Feathers is a socially conscience business. The textiles have been carefully curated to help support impoverished villages and communities. The textiles are made into pillows in Austin, Texas with a zipper and have custom down/feather inserts (included in the price).
The textiles in the ONE OF A KIND COLLECTION are vintage, hand-dyed, handwoven or hand-embroidered. Any irregularities should not be considered flaws but rather unique aspects of these amazing handmade pillows.
